Charlotte Olympia and Mark McNairy Debut Kicks for Kids

Charlotte Olympia Incy Collection

Charlotte Olympia Incy Collection

The style set loves to show off their own style, but recently, we’ve noticed that some fashion headliners are trotting about their kids — outfitted in the latest collections, no less, as if there might just be a pint-sized Sartorialist snapping their pics for kiddie fashion blogs. (Who knows??) Kidding aside,  Jenna Lyon’s Beckett, Rachel Zoe’s Skyler and Brad Kroenig’s son Hudson are just a few of fashion’s most chic tots. Having a mom or dad in the fashion industry certainly doesn’t hurt (and neither does a penchant for painting your toes neon pink), but kids everywhere can get a taste of a grown-up closet no matter what their mommies and daddies do, thanks to new releases from footwear designers Charlotte Olympia and Mark McNairy. The two established designers have both released new pint-sized collections that have us all wishing we had little ones to play dress up with.

Charlotte Dellal

Charlotte Olympia designer Charlotte Dellal’s new collection, dubbed Incy — as in the spider — isn’t a collection for kids, per se. She’s calling it a collection of miniatures, which is exactly what the designs are. Known for whimsical detailing such as cats, webs and more, Dellal’s designs have a childlike playfulness to them anyway, so creating kid-sized shoes was a natural progression for the brand. The Incy collection, which debuted August 12th, includes six styles, including pint-sized versions of Dellal’s famous spiderweb and Kitty flats, renamed Kitten flats for her littlest clients. Each pair of shoes includes a special coloring book and crayons so little hands can be occupied while their feet get all the attention. Also, Dellal will be donating 10 percent of the the collection’s sales in August to Art Start, a charity dedicated to helping at-risk youth through art.

The Incy collection starts at $125 and is available at Charlotte Olympia boutiques and online.

Lil McNairy Bucks

Lil McNairy Bucks

Mark McNairy has become synonymous with bold soles and the bold faces that wear his shoes (Pharell, Matt Bomer). He’s staying busy, too, by creating a special line of shoes just for Club Monaco and expanding his line to include Red Brick Soul (a branch of footwear named after the shoes’ rusty colored soles) and the New England Collection, a collection that’s more trad and formal than his usual fare.

What we’re loving is his line of Lil Bucks, which are miniaturized versions of his big boy shoes, complete with his colored soles and an array of suede uppers to match (or clash). Available in seven colorways, the shoes are bench made in England, just like the kicks in his namesake label. What you won’t find on a Lil Buck is McNairy’s signature F*ck Off emblem on the tread of the shoes — he’s become more reserved with that motif, even in his main line.

The kids shoes are the perfect stepping stone for little boys who are just now developing their menswear swagger, so expect the mini me’s that wear these to grow up right into their daddy’s McNairys.

Lil Bucks ($198) are available online at Mark McNairy New Amsterdam.
