UPDATE: Dogeared is now open! The shop includes a brand-new bag collab with Kind Campaign and an exclusive collection with Pehn Lehn.

This story was originally published on April 19, 2016.

You know Dogeared for its delicate necklaces, which are perfect gifts for just about every occasion (birthdays, bridesmaids gifts, baby showers, even events that don’t start with the letter B). And while the brand has been around for over two decades — 25 years, to be exact — shoppers have had to find its wares at popular departments stores, specialty boutiques, and more. But that’s about to change, because the L.A.-based jewelry line is opening up shop for the very first time this June. Situated in sunny Santa Monica, it’ll join the ranks of Free People, Planet Blue, and Love Adorned on Main Street, making it a perfect fit for the shopping stretch.

“We want our customers to grasp and understand Dogeared in a new way,” said Ashley Walkley, director of brand and strategic initiatives told WWD. “I don’t think we ever put ourselves out there. We’ve been a quiet, understated brand.”

The 1,200-square-foot store will feature artwork from Colette Miller, known for creating angel-wing murals in spots such as Washington, D.C., Mexico, and Kenya, as well as plenty of picture-perfect spots for Instagram snaps. And zeroing in on the fact that the brand is so giftable, Dogeared is teaming with an app that’ll allow shoppers to create custom cards to accompany their purchases, so each necklace will have a special sentiment that you won’t find at Nordstrom or Bloomingdale’s. Shoppers will be able to access the brand’s entire offerings, which span delicate necklaces, rings and earrings as well as small pouches, totes, and more.

Reflecting Dogeared’s made-in-the-U.S.A. ethos (specifically, SoCal), the store will feature non-toxic paint as well as recycled polymer siding that is made in the United States. There will also be a special collection of gift items, too, just in case you need some home accents to go along with your new baubles. Those items will all be sourced from ethical brands that are in line with Dogeared’s own values of local production, ethical sourcing and, of course, understated luxe.
