Fashion Week — which is actually a month if take into account the four cities that editors jet to every Spring and Fall — is officially over now, and we’ve gathered together our favorite trends from the shows that you can use in your home. Sure, there’s plenty to take from the collections for your wardrobe, but we’re taking them from your closet out to your home. Take these great home accessories and integrate them all over to give your house a refresh, just like you’d do for your clothes.
Fashion Week Trend: Bold Stripes
Stripes are a standard when the spring collections are walking the runway — and doubly expected when resort season is on the books — but for fall, designers such as Alice + Olivia’s Stacy Bendet showed a more brooding and dark take on stripes for the fall season. Deeper and more textural — just check out that knit — there are no nautical or preppy notes at all in A+O’s striped duster. You can integrate the trend into your home with a touch of wallpaper if you’re feeling particularly bold (just like they did in this spread from House Beautiful) or do the trend with a little more subtlety with a pillow or two. If you’ve got a small space, choose a brighter color to keep from getting a claustrophobic room and play with the width of your stripes. A bold, thick strip can have just as much impact as these thin ones.
Fashion Week Trend: Acrylic Accents
Gianvito Rossi has been dubbed the new Manolo with his distinctive, architectural style and an already huge fan base he’s developed in just a few years. Women love his simple, timeless designs and we love that he injects a little bit of cool into even the simplest designs. His Leather and PVC Pumps ($760) get just a little twist thanks to a clear panel added to a traditional pointed-toe mule. You can add the same look to your house with West Elm’s Acrylic Trays ($34-44). These versatile trays can be a catchall for mail and keys or used as a service piece when you’ve got friends over. They match any decor thanks to their non-color and can even be monogrammed.
Fashion Week Trend: Geode Prints
Rock out with your frock out! Phillip Lim showed a collection cut with swirling prints that he pulled from geodes, which separated solid, opaque fabrics from sheer panels. It was a sexy look that stayed thoroughly grounded in reality thanks to a monochromatic color scheme and feminine, swingy shapes. Get the look at your house with the Anthropologie Celestial Coaster Set ($32). That way, you won’t have to go all out with marble walls and ceiling panels we spied at the Roman and Williams’ designed Viceroy Hotel in New York.
