Isabel Marant, Chloé and Marni have a new neighbor on Melrose Place. Venice-based Irene Neuwirth, the CFDA/Swarovski award winning jewelry brand, has set up shop and is ready to offer bold bling and one-of-a-kind baubles to Angelenos. For over ten years, designer Irene Neuwirth has been racking up critical acclaim, celebrity fans (Reese Witherspoon, Emma Stone and more) and has offered her rough-hewn gems at select Barneys New York locations, but the Melrose Place boutique is the very first time she’s had a place to call her own.
The 1,850-square-foot shop is the very first fine jewelry store to grace Melrose Place and is designed to mimic a Parisian apartment, not a typical jewelry store. The airy, open space (which includes a kitchen that overlooks neighbor Isabel Marant’s courtyard) is filled with vitrines displaying Neuwirth’s collections, including over 300 pieces that are exclusive to her first flagship.
The living room and dining room are stocked with glittering gems-filled earrings, bracelets, necklaces and more. The store’s exclusives include new designs that eschew the designer’s typically delicate and feminine pieces with a few that bolder and heavier. New stones have been integrated as well, including pearls, aquamarine, tanzanite, emeralds and sapphires. The pieces range from $700 to one-of-a-kind pieces ringing in at $200,000.
The store was designed in collaboration with Commune and includes touches such as Clare Crespo dioramas, watercolors by Claire Oswalt, colorful Aaron Morse hand mirrors and a painting by the designer’s mother Geraldine Neuwirth. The designer will continue to offer her wares at Barneys (where Neuwirth has an exclusive diamond collection) and the other 30 retailers she’s partnered with, but the flagship will receive seasonal collections to give her devotees a reason to make a glam sojourn.
Irene Neuwirth is located at 8458 Melrose Place, in West Hollywood. For more information, visit www.ireneneuwirth.com.
