Men’s fashion month is in full swing now that the London Collections: Men are underway. Big names such as Burberry and Tom Ford are giving editors a taste of what’s to come and the peacocking menswear bloggers are out in full force, ready to catch the roving lens of photographers that are snapping up looks from London to Florence. But while clothes are the main draw, Manolo Blahnik used the London Collections: Men as the platform to debut his latest collection: his very first full line of men’s shoes. Girls everywhere have been salivating over his designs — especially one Carrie Bradshaw, a shoe obsessive that’s lived on long after her final episode — and now it’s time for guys to get in on the action.

Blahnik actually started his career crafting men’s shoes, and he’s been known to cobble up his own special pairs, too, so it’s no surprise that he’s embraced menswear and is finally offering up a full range for guys. His very first presentation showed men everywhere why he’s such a lady’s man. Designs ranging from sandals to equestrian boots are all on offer, as well as special occasion footwear — read: opera flats — and resort wear, such as sandals. Loyal female fans will see the designer’s signatures, such as luxe materials, delicate details and elegant lines, but guys are more likely to notice the squared-off, but not too-aggressive chiseled toe, traditional broguing and palette of neutral, wear-everyday colors. There are a few standouts, including the knee-high riding boots and rattan derbies, but like his women’s collections, Blahnik coudln’t help but inject a little fun and fantasy into the world of men’s footwear. Most guys will more likely than not gravitate towards the (elevated) standard fare, such as suede lace-ups and wingtip boots, and for that, Mr. Blahnik, we tip our hats to you.
