Outfit Inspiration: Emmy Rossum’s Printed Carolina Herrera Shorts

The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel set the stage for Carolina Herrera’s vintage prints. The hotel, a vintage gem in itself, played host to Hollywood actresses, L.A. socialites and more, including Shamelss star Emmy Rossum, who had the distinct honor of wearing Herrera’s sparrow print (other notable appearances included Herrera’s Swimming Ladies, her Marilyn Toile and graphic LOVE prints) on a chic pair of high-waisted shorts that looked perfectly prim and totally fresh. Fellow guests included Fashion Trends Daily favorite Jaime King and Camilla Belle alongside Cali goddess Shiva Rose and model Liberty Ross.

The ladies all gathered to celebrate the Carolina Herrera Archive II Collection, which brings back the designer’s most iconic prints on all new shapes. So imagine sheath dresses, skirts and more all done up in signature Herrera style. Our favorite piece was definitely Rossum’s shorts, which blended the season’s high-waisted trend combined with polished tailoring and, of course, a cheeky print. Get inspired with our picks and you’ll be styling all summer long.

Minkpink Wild Flower Patch Print High Rise Shorts

Minkpink Wild Flower Patch Print High Rise Shorts

Don’t worry if Carolina Herrera limited editions are out of your budget, because you can find great printed shorts at every price point. We think that the Minkpink Wild Flower Patch Print High Rise Shorts ($74) are the perfect blend of feminine and fresh, combining a super cute floral print with the same high-waisted shape as Rossum’s shorts. The bright colors and miniature scale of the print make these shorts the perfect piece to add fun to basic black or white. Take them casual with flats or do like Emmy and dress them up with a pair of ladylike pumps for luncheons, baby showers and more. Find a pair of shorts that check all your boxes (tailored, whimsical and comfortable) and you’ll wear them to every occasion this season.

Available at Nordstrom.

1. Pairing shorts with a long-sleeved shirt is a great style that lets you bring attention to your legs — and who doesn’t want to give their gams some attention this summer? The Sabine Lace Detail Boho Blouse ($79) has the same emerald shade as Rossum’s blouse and will pair with jeans and dressy shorts alike.

2. Rossum carried a neutral clutch, but that doesn’t mean it was boring. The Diane von Furstenberg Metallic Cork Envelope Clutch ($195) may have a neutral tone, but it’s got plenty of detail and texture to keep it interesting. In short: buy it now and wear it with everything.

3. What’s more Hollywood than a great pair of shades? Nothing. Grab these Alexander McQueen Cat Eye Sunglasses ($345) and you’ll be paparazzi ready.

4. The big boyfriend watch has had its day. What’s way more fresh? Something dainty and feminine like the Karl Lagerfeld La Petit Kourbe Pyramid Bracelet Watch ($195) not only stacks well with your bangles and bracelets, it’ll look chic and clean on its own.

5. Give your nude pumps a little break and add something more graphic to your rotation with a clean, white pump such as the Charles by Charles David Pact Pump ($98.95). Forget what you hear about white shoes and national holidays — rules were meant to be broken.
