Outfit Inspiration: January Jones is Pretty in Pink

January Jones doesn’t shy away from fashion risks. We’ve spotted her in floor-length fringe, a polka-dot dress (paired with matching shorts underneath!) and even bleached brows and a rhinestone-studded cat eye. When she’s not on the red carpet, her style’s just as cool. Case in point: her bright pink moto jacket, which she was wearing while strolling the streets of Beverly Hills. She may shy away from the paparazzi’s flashbulbs, but this jacket was nothing if not attention-grabbing.

But thanks to a set of basics, her jacket stole the show. And just like Jones, you can wear the usual combo of jeans, tank and bag and let one piece take center stage. So keep it simple and stylish, because if you’re in head-to-toe statement pieces, your message is sure to get a little mixed up.

It might not have an eye-searing neon hue, but that might be a good thing: we don’t all have the fashion chutzpah to throw on a hot pink jacket all the time. Instead, try the Circus by Sam Edelman Dip Dyed Faux Leather Moto Jacket ($82.80), which has the same moto-inspired details at Jones’ pink topper — think asymmetrical zipper, narrow sleeves, a cropped shape and plenty of snap buttons and more. But with a more subtle ombré finish, it’s not the kind of piece you put on and your friends instantly recognize. The soft pink hue lets you wear this jacket no matter what time of year it is: add it to a basic tee and cutoffs for an outfit that’ll add a little bit of cheer to June gloom or wear it with a maxi the rest of the summer. When it starts to cool down, toss it over a sweater dress and you’re set to shine all over again.

Available at Nordstrom.

1. You might not want to say goodbye to your skinny jeans just yet, but there’s something about a flare that seems so fresh right now? Maybe we’ve reached skinny fatigue or maybe the summer just has us feeling a little more relaxed. Either way, the J Brand Love Story ($236.67) is a tried-and-true favorite.

2. January Jones is wearing a lace-accented shell, but we ‘re upping the ante with the Vince Printed Silk Stripe-hem Top ($225), which will look great if you decide to shrug off the jacket.

3. And no celeb sighting would be complete without statement shades, right? Try our new go-tos, the Ray Ban Cat-Eye Wayfarers ($155).

4. Swap our your black bag for a summer white, which will give any of your maxi dresses, cutoffs and rompers a much-needed refresh. Try the Loeffler Randall Mini Saffiano Rider Bag ($276.50), the brand’s most popular shape, in a sturdy saffiano, which you won’t have to baby when you’re headed to the beach or bonfire.
