The first step in Diane von Furstenberg’s domination of Southern California? The very first store dedicated solely to her wrap dress located at the Americana at Brand in Glendale. It’s just a taste of what’s to come, because the iconic designer has plans to open two more locations: one in Santa Monica next month and one at the Grove before Christmastime.
But what makes the new Americana location special is its specialty: the wrap. DvF’s most celebrated silhouette takes center stage at the new store, where you can stock up on work-ready versions of the dress (think preppy collars, long sleeves and safe prints) as well as cocktail and evening versions of the wrap, including special edition prints, sequined styles and long gowns. It’s smaller than the DvF stores that you might be used to, but there are plenty of figure-flattering wraps to be found whether you’re a staunch devotee of the liberating style or you’re looking for your very first. In addition to the dresses, there is a small curated selection of DvF accessories in store just so you can get a taste of what’s to come later this year. Sunglasses, a few shoe styles, small handbags and scarves are all available if you need that little something extra to add to your selection, which includes Bruna, the original wrap that started it all, to von Furstenberg’s latest creations.
