Fans of Jenni Kayne — whether they’re the L.A. celeb set or everyday women everywhere — know her label as a go-to for luxe staples that eschew trends for sophistication and yes, comfort. Those flat mules are a staple for a reason, right? They might not have the sex appeal of a stiletto, but they’ve got comfort and chic on lock. The past few seasons, however, have seen Kayne injecting her eponymous label with a little bit…more. Embellishment, fringe and ultra-luxe fabrications have found their way into the Kayne vocabulary and her loyal shoppers have been loving it. The designer is amping up the glam this season, too, adding plenty more to her lineup and embellishing even the most basic pieces to make the feel special.

Kayne drew inspiration from the beaches of Inverness, a misty beach where you’d need plenty of luxe layers to brave the day. Morning coffee calls for a comfy, cozy knit. Errands and drop-off are done in silk shirting and at sundown, a gauzy lace-trimmed slip dress and lounge pants done in cashmere are the perfect outfit. Even the most basic pieces, such as a camisole, T-shirt or sweater, was embellished with a touch of lace or a subtle ribbon. And while the palette was mainly black, grey and neutral beige, nothing seemed boring at all with these small, but mighty, additions.

Dresses were also a focus, though you won’t find much red-carpet fare from this L.A. designer. Wear-everywhere (and every day) dresses were done in cottons and eyelet, offering up plenty for destination weddings and weekend brunches alike. The more formal pieces had contrast beading and lace sleeves, though they still managed to look cool and laid-back. Outerwear and knits were on offer, too, with thick double-faced cashmere for East Coast chill and thick ponchos and cardigans for ladies lounging where it isn’t quite so cold.

And those mules? They’re still available, though Kayne did expand on her shoe line, too. The ever-growing label added a studded sandal, a covetable combat boot and a remix on the flat: this time, they came in embossed leather with a removable ankle strap, which offered up two looks for the price of one. Looks like Kayne has another cult hit on her hands — and we can’t be happier about it.
