Our Favorite Kimono Dresses For Work & Play

As the classic song goes, we’re turning Japanese — well, at least our closets are. The classic Japanese silhouette is working its way into our clothes via wrap silhouettes and billowing sleeve details. But this isn’t your mom’s (or DVF’s) wrap dress. Think of it as a more breezy, boho take on the classic. And some options don’t take the theme too seriously, either. Some of our picks feature just a few details, such as an exaggerated sleeve, while other take the traditional kimono and update it with flowing fabrics and cool embroidery. And not that we’re already thinking about summer, but most of these can work over a bathing suit, too. That may be wishful fantasy now, but don’t dismiss a piece that does double duty.
