It’s a case of double trouble: L’Agent, the more affordable offering from luxe British lingerie label Agent Provocateur designed by Penélope and Mónica Cruz, is opening up shop for the very first time. Previously only available at specialty and department stores, the line is dipping its impeccable toes into brick and mortar retail with a pair of store openings. New York’s location, which opened up in Nolita over the weekend, pre-dates the Los Angeles flagship by just a few days, because the doors to the Melrose Avenue boutique opens its doors today in the new complex at the intersection of Melrose and La Cienega, home to the brand new Alice + Olivia by Stacy Bendet flagship and the soon-to-open second location of celeb-frequented Alfred Coffee.
Like its big sister’s locations, the L’Agent stores are girly through and through. Both the New York and Los Angeles locations are decked out in pale pink with flashes of animal print and the brand’s signature purple. The L’Agent line, which shares the uber-sexed up ethos of Agent Provocateur proper, has more traditional offerings than AP proper (you won’t find tassels or cup-less bras in this line), such as lacy bras and panties, silk chemises, satin corsets, playsuits and more. Bras hover at around $80 while panties ring up at about $40. In comparison, Agent Provocateur bras start at $150 and can go upwards of $600 while panties — ahem, knickers — start at $120.
But what makes us the most excited is the promise of a “friendly but unobtrusive staff,” which is just the right fit for a store that’s all about cheeky underpinnings. New to the brand? Check out this video (with a cameo from Penélope, naturally) to get yourself acquainted before you head to the shop to see the goods for yourself:
