Outfit Inspiration: Jessica Alba’s Cozy Holiday Cardigan

Jessica Alba is on a roll. Not only is her company, the Honest Company, doing better than ever (it’s available at Target now!), she is also ramping up her philanthropy, too. Baby2baby, a charity that she has worked with in the past, co-hosted a luncheon with the Honest Co., and Alba looked completely chic in a variation on the holiday sweater that we’re stealing for our very next holiday party.

While holiday outfits usually center around bright colors or blinged out sequin cocktail frocks, Alba decided on a cool — and unexpected — black and white combination that integrates some holiday patterns with the cool downtown look that she’s developed in the past few years. Her cool and cozy cardigan blazer has enough pattern to keep it interesting and her basics? Well, they’re anything but basic. Look a little closer and you’ll see her integrating leather, silk and more for a luxe holiday look that’ll work for anyone.

You’ve probably gotten invited to more than one ugly sweater party — but Jessica Alba’s take on the holiday staple is anything but ugly. Skip the novelty knits and bright sweaters for a statement sweater that’ll last you more than just a few weeks a year. The  Ella Moss Maja Sweater Coat ($208.99) will give you the look of Alba’s Southwestern-inspired black-and-white blazer sweater. Paired with a black-and-white outfit, it’s a chic and cozy way to stay warm this winter and into next year, too.

For now, wear it with your flirty cocktail dresses for an easy way to stay toasty or do like Alba and wear it with everyday staples for a fun and festive look that’s not over the top.

1. If you thought your leather leggings — faux or not — were just a passing trend, think again. They’re back every year and with a variation on the theme, like the BCBG Max Azria Shelby Contrast Faux Leather Legging ($138), they get better every time.

2. And a staple such as the Equipment Brett Shirt ($198) doesn’t go out of style either — no matter what season it is.

3. Try wearing your statement necklace on the outside of your shirt for a major fashion moment. The Baublebar Crystal Cleopatra Bib ($50) is big enough to stand out against any of your tops.

4. A moto-influenced bootie will serve you well. The Rag & Bone Margot Zip Bootie ($525) is a new interpretation of the brand’s cult favorite Newbury bootie.

5. And if you need a little more bling, something like the Baublebar Curb Cuff ($38) won’t draw any attention away from your bib necklace.
