Multi-hyphenate bombshell Kate Upton is adding one more entry to her always-growing resumé. In addition to modeling (she’s got campaigns with Express and Bobbi Brown, just to name a few) as well as acting — did you catch her in The Other Woman? — the curvy blonde is the new face of Game of War: Fire Age, a new mobile video game. If you’re addicted to mobile gaming, you may have seen her in the ads, stomping through a battlefield in her stiletto gladiators. Upton has been zigzagging across the globe promoting the new game, wearing everything from a grecian gown to a standout striped skirt. The skirt look is our favorite from her press tour because it’s a figure-flattering cut that just about everyone can benefit from and it’s a look any girl can wear to work and for play alike.
If you’ve got a go-to pencil skirt in your wardrobe, you know just how much magic fits between those seams. The pencil shape has the ability to hug curves and elongate all of your lines. Wear it up high on your waist for the maximum benefit (just like Upton does) and play with length to see just how long you can go to skirt the fine line between prim and provocative.
It may not be an exact match, but the T by Alexander Wang Engineered Stripe Pencil Skirt ($125) is going to do the same fashion magic as Upton’s skirt. The color-blocking and horizontal stripes — notice just how the darker colors and lighter, brighter shades play off each other and emphasize/de-emphasize different parts of the body — are flattering to say the least, but we love how the unexpected, bright shades can play with solids and patterns alike.
Paired with a solid top, you’ll look perfectly polished and sleek (Wang’s a master of athletic chic), but for some real fashion — the kind that gets Instagram likes — pair this skirt with a patterned top, either more stripes or a bold check, and you’ll rack up the compliments.
