Outfit Inspiration: Scarlett Johansson’s Red Hot Michael Kors Suit

Scarlett Johansson attends the premiere of Captain America: The Winter Soldier

There’s no stopping Scarlett Johansson. Not only is her resumé filled with critically acclaimed works, she’s played muse to Woody Allen (Match Point, Vicky Christina Barcelona, Scoop), she’s been in some of the most groundbreaking films of the past few years (Her) and she’s not afraid to get down and dirty with a few box office blockbusters (The Avengers). Oh, and on top of that she’s the face of Dolce & Gabbana’s The One fragrance and she’s pregnant (so that glow is coming from more than D&G’s Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation). She’s reprising her role in Captain America: The Winter Solider, the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and of course, she’s killing it on the red carpet.

For the L.A. premiere of the film, she wore a super sexy Armani Privé lace cocktail dress, which was typically Johansson — lacy, sexy and curve hugging — but what really caught our attention is what she wore to the film’s Paris premiere: a fire engine red suit that showed she isn’t afraid to shake things up on the carpet.

Instead of the usual cocktail dress or floor-grazing gown, Johannson’s tailored look was fresh and modern. Paired with blue eyeshadow, simple accessories and minimal frill, it let Scarlett shine. Read on for our picks and go bold.

The Mural Slouchy Boyfriend Blazer ($74) shares a few of the details that we love the most about Johansson’s bold Michael Kors suit. It’s got a bright eye-catching color and it’s got an open, button-free front, lending a more casual feel to something serious like a suit jacket. It’s also got a roomier, more relaxed fit that’s probably just a little more comfortable than something as tailored at Scarlett’s suit. We also love that this neon pink blazer would look great paired with jeans and skirts alike — just scrunch up the sleeves for a laid-back look or pair it with a blouse and pencil skirt when you really mean business but don’t want to lose any of your own, ahem, vibrant personality.

Available at Nordstrom.

1. It’s not easy to match pants to a jacket unless you’re buying them in a set, so our advice is: don’t. If you’re looking for a bold suit, it’s best to buy the two pieces together. But you’re probably not going to wear head-to-toe hot pink anyway, so here’s a great pair of neon jeans from J Brand ($185) for you to wear with your go-to neutral blazer.

2. The rest of Johansson’s look is simple, there’s no need to compete when you’ve got on such a bright suit. A simple, silk shell from Vince ($245) l is a luxe way to keep thing clean.

3. Johansson added a simple choker to her outfit, but we’ll go a little bigger (since we can) with the Velvet Rope Collar ($38) from Baublebar. Plus, a simple top means you can go bold with bling.

4. A minaudière is great if you’re a red carpet regular, but for the rest of us, a more practical convertible clutch — we love this great sleek one from Loeffler Randall ($295) — is a great piece you can dress up or down.

5. We’ve said it before: a metallic heel is something that’ll serve you well no matter what. They’re neutral, eye-catching and you can wear them with everything from jeans to gowns — in short, get these MICHAEL Michael Kors Elisa Slingbacks ($135) ASAP.
