Outfit Inspiration: Sienna Miller’s Metallic Maxi

Sienna Miller’s red carpet style is one of the most distinct out there. She’s known for taking risks, being the muse to many a designer and looking effortlessly cool all the while. Instead of fussy updos, body-con silhouettes and over-the-top ball gowns, her signature ease and ability to take on even the riskiest trends make her an actress that catches attention from the flashbulbs of the paparazzi and fashion addicts alike. For the New York premiere of her new film Foxcatcher, Miller showed off her toned abs (we’ll take those, wherever she managed to find them) in a two-piece dress that looked both modern and classic.

Keeping everything in the black family kept her outfit sleek, but adding touches of shine with a bold choker and a metallic skirt kept things from being too boring. Black dresses on the red carpet aren’t revolutionary by any means, but adding a subtle shine here and bold touches there are what makes Miller’s outfit a real standout. Classic red lips? She’s got a perfect pout. And that gold choker? Let’s just say we’re rushing out to find something jut like it as soon as our morning coffee kicks in.

It’s not often that we find something so spot-on, but even we’ll pat ourselves on the back with this find. If you’re loving Miller’s two-piece, try the LABEL by five twelve Cutout Popover Maxi Dress ($128), which is actually one piece.

It’s got a shimmering, metallic maxi bottom and an attached crop top so you’ve got the ease of one piece with the illusion of two. And while it might not have the long sleeves that Miller’s does, at this price — and with this major amount of glam — we’re willing to take a few subtle changes. Perfect for holiday parties (believe it or not, Christmas is really just around the corner) and after-dark hijinks, it’s a versatile dress that’s anything but little or basic.

Available at Nordstrom.

1. You might not be able to see them, but Sienna Miller paired her black maxi with pared-down strappy sandals. Go easy on the bling and embellishment when you’re wearing a metallic skirt. Try the Aldo Aleiwen Sandal ($99.99) for a low-key strappy option.

2. A classic chain choker such as the Nadri Hammered Flat Link Necklace ($157) is the perfect piece for just about anything, but against an all-black ensemble, it makes a big impact.

3. Speaking of classics, if you’re going for a red lip, just skip the rest and go for MAC Ruby Woo ($16).
