French brand Caudalíe has been renowned across the globe (and in beauty circles) for creating some of the most covetable and effective beauty products on the market. Known for harnessing the power of grapes, including the fruit’s vines and seeds, the brand has become a favorite among royalty and real-life beauty junkies alike. Angelenos have reason to celebrate, because the brand has opened up their first West Coast flagship in Venice, giving you one more reason to visit über hip Abbot Kinney.
Since Caudalíe launched in 1995, the brand’s founders founders, Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, have been recognized for their innovative formulations — together, the duo have utilized the transformative antioxidant power found in the polyphenols of leftover grape skins and seeds at the family château in France. Long before it was de rigueur, Caudalíe was already creating vinotherapy skincare items without parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, and phlalates. Those skincare goods are what you can expect to find at the flagship and spa, which is set just a few steps from the ocean.
Taking a cue from Venice’s laid-back and super casual vibe, the spa is anything but an dimly lit, all-white lab. Instead, customers and visitors are encouraged to discover the brand’s products at Beauty Barrel Bar before deciding just what kind of treatments they should get. Of course, there are skincare experts on hand to help you choose from the five different facials and duo of unique body treatments, all done in rooms painted a deep purple that harkens back to the grapes that the brand is built on. You can even get a Caudalíe-approved mani/pedi with Kure Bazaar polishes as well as relax with a glass of wine after your treatments, which is a definite upgrade from the usual cucumber-infused eau we’re accustomed to getting at our spa getaways.
The 1,000 square-foot space is also home to a range of exclusive items, Les Introuvables, that you’ll only find in Caudalíe stores (you can find the range at your local Sephora, Space.NK and Nordstrom stores if you’re not heading to Venice any time soon), including special organic herbal tea, grape-infused shampoo and a spa candle so you can recreate the feel of the Caudalíe spa at home.
Caudalie is located at 1416 Abbot Kinney Boulevard, in Venice. For more information, visit www.caudalie.com or call (310) 450-3560.
