Hot on the heels of the new Christian Louboutin collection (sorry, we couldn’t resist), Clinique is set to release its new 16 Shades of Beige collection for holiday. Following in the latest beauty trend of “no makeup” makeup and a “less is more” approach to beauty routines, the makeup mega-brand is releasing a special limited edition eye shadow palette and eight unique shades of its A Different Nail Enamel meant to mimic the skin tones of more women than a typical nude polish.

Like Louboutin’s capsule collection, Clinique’s is meant to expand on what “flesh-toned” means in the world of beauty. After all, a nude that might look good on someone such as Jessica Chastain might not be so natural looking on say, Beyoncé. Taking that into account, Clinique is offering its A Different Nail Enamel, which is designed for those with sensitive skin and an aversion to chemicals typically found in nail polish, in a range of eight shades that runs the gamut from alabaster (that would be the shade Room Service) to cocoa (Nighty Night) and everything between. The soft, creamy colors are meant to flatter your hands and give you a clean, polished look that’s both work-appropriate and runway-inspired (just take a look at Chanel, Marc Jacobs and more for the resurgence of nude nails).

In addition to the polish, Clinique is also releasing an octet of shadows in the vein of Urban Decay’s wildly successful Naked palettes (now gearing up for its third iteration). And while most brands are decidedly in the avant garde camp — MAC, Urban Decay and more — most women find themselves more likely to visit counters were the emphasis is on a more understated, natural look such as Clinique, Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier. Clinique’s All About Shadow formula is ophthalmologist tested, crease and fade resistant and smooth, meaning you can create natural, barely-there looks just as easily as more smoky, contoured looks with just one palette.
