Coming Soon: NARS’ San Francisco Flagship

New York and L.A. get all the credit — awards shows, fashion shows and the like take the stage on these coastal capitals, but François Nars knows that his clientele lives in places that don’t necessarily get the spotlight. For his third boutique, he chose the city by the bay, showing that even though the flashbulbs might shine brighter in other cities, San Franciscans know a thing or two about looking camera-ready.

Like his two other boutiques, the NARS store on Fillmore is sleek and sophisticated, done up in white, black and a flash of red taken from the cult-fave color Jungle Red (available in-store, naturally). But unlike his tiny New York shop and his celeb-centric L.A. location — there’s no VIP lounge in the historic Fillmore Street building — the SF shop is spacious and focused on the customer. Four permanent makeup station are set up so you can take lessons from the pros, which happen to be trained in the ways of François’ backstage magic by the master himself. Get a lesson in perfecting your complexion or mastering the ever-elusive smokey eye with the whole range of NARS products at your disposal.

Of course, all of NARS best-selling goods will be available, including Orgasm blush, Laguna bronzing powder and Funny Face lipstick, but the store will also carry the exclusive 413 BLKR line, a seasonal collection of products that are only available online and at NARS boutiques. The store also features a selection of videos directed by Nars himself playing on screens embedded into the store’s mirrors and a selection of curated objects such as books, films, candles, photos and more collected from around the world, each one personally chosen my François.

The NARS 2050 Fillmore Street location opens Friday, March 15.
