Last month, Emily Weiss (the creator of beauty blog Into the Gloss) branched out from her blogging and introduced a tightly edited range of skincare under the moniker Glossier. Beauty junkies, fans of her blog and curious shoppers alike all clamored for a taste of the new products — after all, someone who spends her time interviewing insiders and models on their beauty routines is sure to pick up a thing or two — but the line is, for now, online-only. But Weiss is heeding the call and is bringing her products to the masses with a few pop-up shops, including one in Los Angeles and one in San Francisco.

Weiss describes Glossier’s first phase (Phase 1) as the foundation of the line and to the untrained eye, it’s skincare. But lest you think this is just a vanity project, Weiss enlisted the help of the former director of product development from MAC to help her develop the line. The first release includes a face mist, a moisturizer that’s not too matte and not too dewy, a use-anywhere balm — think lips, cuticles, etc. — and a skin tint. The line is already gaining traction in the blogosphere, but most girls (and guys) want to try the products before committing, which is where the pop-ups come in. Weiss has already brought the concept to NY’s SoHo, and starting next week, Glossier will be setting up shop at L.A.’s Standard Hotel so that everyone can get a taste of the line before dropping $80 for the complete set.

That means you can get colormatched for the skin tint (there are three shades) and test, mist and try on the skincare to see just how it jibes with your current routine. The four-piece set is available all together or separately just in case you want to skip out on the color aspect and just focus on skincare. Next, the shop will move up north to the City by the Bay. While the location is still under wraps, San Franciscans can rest assured that Weiss will be bringing her irreverent brand of beauty to their fair city before the end of 2014.
