Tangerine Tango, Pantone’s color for spring, isn’t relegated to clothes and accessories alone. And since the Pantone for Sephora collection is not due out until March, Fashion Trends Daily has scoured the beauty counters for gorgeous tangerine-hued lip color that has us doing the tango. While we love brights and in-your-face color, this hue can seem like an intimidating color to wear. Not to worry: we’ve highlighted a few of our favorites that will help rock red-orange lips without fear.
“Spring is about extremes,” says Poppy King, the Lipstick Queen herself. “Either a bright tangerine lip and minimal eye or smoky eye and no lip. Think vice-versa for spring!” We couldn’t agree more. We’ve always envied the fresh faced models in our J. Crew catalogs (pictured above), and to get the look, Poppy recommends her own Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencil ($20) in Genre.
Sure, this bright bullet may look like a serious commitment, but the Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour ($22) in Clementine, like everything Mercier has on her counter, is wearable and flattering on just about every skin tone. The nearly-neon hue slicks on sheer, giving just a hing of tangerine on your lips and the formula’s packed with peach, apricot and almond oils for moisture.
Like all her products, the Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain ($19) in Mambo is infused with good-for-you ingredients, but the real reason she’s on the list is staying power. Like a real magic marker, this stain penetrates. It can withstand everything from mimosas to aperitifs and everything between.
