I’m just going to tell you, unabashedly, that I have no objectivity whatsoever when it comes to Missoni. Those iconic chevron stripes just get me every time. I love them in a box, with a fox, here or there – anywhere. I like them on my feet in the form of my Missoni for Converse sneakers. I like them on my table, as Missoni for Pellegrino water. And I am pretty darn sure I would love the hug of a Missoni beach towel after a swim — that is, if I was willing to shell out $200 for a beach towel.
Now, I have a new Missoni obsession: The Missoni Home by Apothia candle done in collaboration with L.A.’s Ron Robinson beauty emporium.
Choose from five unique fragrances, each with their own Missoni pattern on the label. Long to be under the Tuscan sun but short on vacay time? Go with the Maremma (earth) candle, which features yellow Helichrysum flowers and wild thyme with deep earthy notes of oakmoss and patchoulli. To help inspire Robinson when he was concocting the scents for the candles, Rosita Missoni sent over a package of Helichrysum flowers grown in Tuscan soil and seasoned with Tuscan sun. More reason to love Missoni.
Gotta have those Chevron stripes? You know I feel you. You’ll have to go with the Monterosa candle, then, which is infused with notes of Mediterranean cypress, fir balsam and incense combined with sandalwood and other tantalizing scents.
Craving a trip to Capri? (I am, I am!) Go with the Mediterraneo Candle, meant to evoke azure Mediterranean waters lapping over the rocks. Revel in hints of birch leaf, Calimyrna fig and Mediterranean lavender while you mentally lounge on the deck of your yacht (or, say, Roberto Cavalli’s), as it rocks rhythmically in the water.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go pack my bag. Roberto’s calling and my Limoncello is waiting!
