Like all things L.A., Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills went in for a little bit of work. As part of a huge renovation plan, the store unveiled its new beauty floor, which spans a whopping 11,500 square feet and features a beautiful, luxe new look that is the perfect showcase for new lines, spa rooms and a special area just for high-tech beauty tools.

“This is clearly one of our most important markets and most important stores so at the end of the day we need to keep the store looking the way our customers expect,” John Koryl, president of Neiman Marcus stores and online, told WWD. “It started with Cusp last year and now we’ve redone the plaza level.”

The new beauty department was moved to the lower level of the Beverly Hills location, much like the beauty floor at Barneys New York just a few steps away. Inside the new space, well-heeled shoppers can browse favorite brands such as Laura Mercier, Lancôme and more on the new Carrera marble floors, illuminated by pure white LED lights. The design of the new space also features special shop in shops for brands such as Tom Ford, Chanel, La Prarie and La Mer, whose store includes the brand’s requisite fish tank. The project isn’t quite finished yet, with a Dior shop in shop slated to open later this year.

The remodel also includes an Avery Perfume Gallery, which brings together 21 different labels, both niche and more recognizable. “One of our key points of difference in the beauty department was really just the presentation of our niche and luxury fragrances,” said Kelly St. John, vice president and divisional merchandise manager of beauty. “It’s very interactive and very inviting.”

The beauty department’s facelift is just one phase of the store’s new look. The Beverly Hills Neiman Marcus location is in the midst of undergoing a major overhaul, which began with the addition and expansion of the Cusp department, the renovation of the Fresh Market Café and the current improvements to the fine jewelry and handbag departments. Next, the store will be integrating a champagne bar and an interactive touch-screen table to the shoe department so that shoppers can browse the company’s entire inventory of shoes, boots, pumps and more. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2016.

Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills joins the Chicago Michigan Avenue location, which is also undergoing major changes as well as the Palo Alto Stanford Shopping Center location, which is next up.
