As much as we’d love the red carpet arrivals at the Oscars to be a showcase for more forward fashion, we probably won’t see much of it — save for Tilda Swinton and a few others. There likely won’t be any Gaga-style arrivals, although we think someone should take a cue from her and arrive in a life-size Oscar statuette (just a suggestion). We have the runways to push the envelope, while the stars worry about what’s inside the white envelope.
Thankfully, there are definitely some ‘ole faithfuls who love to make an appearance in quirky getups (Helena Bonham-Carter and Cher, we’re counting on you!) and will probably be popping up on Joan River’s scathing post-show dissection. So until the after show, we’ll prepare for a parade of pretty. We admit, we love that, too.
