Swooning Over…Tulle Eyes at Chanel Haute Couture

Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2013

Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2013

When Peter Philips became the head of Chanel Beauté in 2008, beauty fans waited season after season for the master face-painter’s take on makeup and nails. And while ready-to-wear collections might be more wearable than haute couture creations, every single Philips release is met with the same anticipation. For Karl Lagerfeld’s latest haute couture collection for Chanel, which was inspired by German Romanticism and Neo-classicism, Philips commissioned custom-made eye appliques from Maison Lemarié for a real couture eye look. Constructed from the same fluttering fabric that Karl used throughout the collection and celeb coiffeur Sam McKnight’s custom hair pieces, every model got a pair of fluttering lashes as well as a five-alarm smoky eye. For nails, Philips stuck to the classics: classic Black Satin for toes and Emprise, a soft coral, for nails. While they’re both in the permanent collection, we expect these haute hues to sell out in short order.
