On Christmas Eve, Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn posted the picture above and gave her fans a clue to a secret project that would require their help and give her something to show off — other than her skills on the slopes — during the Sochi Olympic games. We all wondered, but Vonn announced just a few days later that she was teaming with designer Cynthia Rowley for a project that would let her fans choose the helmet she’d wear when she competes in 2014’s Winter Olympics. Taking to her Facebook page to announce the collab, fans are voting now for the winning pattern.

The four designs made their debut on Vonn’s Facebook page the day after Christmas and almost instantly, her fans were voting for their favorite designs. The four designs, which Rowley created with helmet manufacturer Briko, include a floral design that Rowley’s fans will recognize from her ready-to-wear collections, a fierce snow leopard pattern as well as an abstract feather print and an allover gold design. This isn’t Vonn’s first foray into crowdsourcing couture. for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, she had a similar contest which allowed the public to design her headgear. Vonn would go on to wear the winning design on the podium when she won the gold medal in her downhill event.

Voting for the helmet, which can be done by simply commenting on the image at Vonn’s Facebook page with each design’s corresponding hashtag, continues through January 3, when the winning design will be announced. While our pick is for #LVforGold3 (what can we say, we’re in a festive mood), you can vote for your favorite at Vonn’s Facebook page.

As of January 7, Vonn has announced that due to circumstances surrounding her knee surgeries, she will be unable to race at the Sochi Olympics. She has previously undergone surgeries to correct two ligaments in her right knee and  a broken bone in her leg  that she sustained during a high-speed crash at the world championships in February. Most recently, Vonn  re-tore her ACL in November after it was repaired. She will undergo another surgery shortly.
