H&M To Debut Red Carpet Looks Seen On Viola Davis, Amanda Seyfried and More!

The usual names on the red carpet read either like a roster of CFDA’s glam squad: Oscar, Vera and Marchesa or an EU fashion committee list (Donatella, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana). But in the past year, a handful of celebrities have been taking a different route making appearances on the red carpet wearing pieces from fast-fashion darling H&M.

The looks have had shoppers clamoring at their local H&M outposts looking for the pieces, but the dresses and separates have not been available in-stores. However,  starting April 12th, key looks (and a few new debuts) will be hanging on the racks at select stores alongside H&M’s usual fare of fast-fashion and basics. And in a unique twist for the retailer, some of the pieces will even be available online at their fledgeling e-commerce site.

In addition to being red-carpet ready, the collection is a part of H&M’s Conscious line, meaning the materials used to make each piece are made using organic cottons and recycled polyesters. Going green on the red carpet was as trendy this year as showing off toned gams, so this exclusive collection lets you get in on the green game without losing any cred on the red carpet.

Michelle Williams wore a two-piece stunner to the BAFTA Awards, where she was nominated for her role as Marilyn Monroe. The organic cotton top (just $30) and polyester skirt (it’ll set you back another $30) looked classic with her pixie cut and easily could have fooled us into thinking it was from a major fashion house like Lanvin or Vionnet. And at just $60 for the whole look, you can afford to step out looking like an Oscar nominee without the pain of paying couture prices.

As we mentioned in one of our previous articles, starlet du jour Amanda Seyfried stepped out alongside co-star Justin Timberlake in a borrowed-from-the-boys look at a London premiere. The electric blue ensemble will be available as part of the collection, too, ringing up at $25 for the shorts and $60 for the blazer. And with almost infinite possibilities when it comes to mixing, matching and mashing up with pieces you already have, we’d say snagging Seyfried’s suit would be a wise investment.

And proving that the collection is not just for flashbulbs and awards ceremonies, Viola Davis’s hot pink two-piece look will also be available for purchase. While the retail version has a longer skirt, we’d imagine a trip to the tailor would only tack a few bucks onto an already stellar steal — just $20 for the shell and $30 for the skirt.

And for a flirty cocktail frock, our pick would be Kristin Davis’s flouro minidress. It packs a punch and rings in at just $70.

A few other selections from the collection haven’t seen the carpet just yet, but they’ll be available for purchase alongside their more notable brethren. In addition, H&M is adding a limited edition gown. Just 1,000 of them will be available for purchase worldwide and each one is individually numbered. The organza, cotton and silk plissé meringue skirt gown is an instant camera magnet, wherever you choose to wear it.
