The Fashion Accessory du Jour? Stylish Stationery

Lanvin Airmail Print Writing Set

Lanvin Airmail Print Writing Set

Until the advent of couture E-mail, a few savvy designers from the fashion set are giving you a chance to send some stylish correspondence. And don’t let the recent stamp price increase deter you. If it does, stop reading now: Our picks for stylish stationery choices don’t come cheap. But signed, sealed, delivered style is worth it!

File under too pretty to use: This Lanvin Airmail Print Writing set, is so luxe (and so expensive) that you won’t be able to bear to part with a single card. While the set of stamps included won’t make the cut at the post office, they’re certainly up to snuff for anyone who follows fashion. Like everything Lanvin, it’s got one of Alber Elbaz’s signature bows on the box, so even if you do slip one or two in the mailbox, you’ll have a keepsake to cherish back at home.

Kate Spade New York Stationary

Kate Spade New York Stationary

Kate Spade was one of the first designers to get in on the haute paper game. And why not? The brand’s signature cheeky attitude lends itself perfectly to note cards and thank you cards. The Sealed With a Kiss card set is one of our favorites (It reminds us of one of Poppy King’s Supercalifragilipstick shades), but there are plenty of colorful invitations, pocketbook calendars and more. Each and every one bears Kate Spade whimsy and a rainbow of colors. For a fun twist on note cards, there’s nowhere better.

We can get a little haute-y when it comes to our high-end stationery, and we love having something that is made just for us. For a much more personal experience, we turn to the couture correspondence created by Maria Valentin at Figmint Design for her always-fabulous bespoke creations. The Los Angeles-based design and branding firm concepts and creates everything from custom stationery collections to wedding and party invites and soup-to-nuts branding for companies, high-end clientele and Hollywood starlets. One of our faves? Her canine couture cards. We adore the custom beagle-inspired set and the collection Valentin designed for a couple who just adopted a Weimeraner. The luxe package included birth announcements and a custom “cigar” box and cigar wrappers to go around cigar-shaped dog bones.  The canines might not care about custom stationery, but we howl with delight every time we see her work.

Bonnie Marcus Collection Stationary

Bonnie Marcus Collection Stationery

Bonnie Marcus started as a wedding and events planner in NYC, but she saw a huge hole in the industry for cute paper. After that light bulb flashed, she decided to produce a line of products with the idea that fashion and paper could come together. Ever imagine yourself as a Stila girl or one of the chic ladies illustrated in the Nordstrom catalog? Those are the type of baby shower invites, party invitations and more that you can find on her site. After being featured on Good Morning America and New York Magazine, the former DVF employee even expanded beyond paper into her own line of flip-flops and more. Her card line has even gone green — so don’t feel bad you’re still using snail mail to send these adorable cards.

Vera Wang Stationary

Vera Wang’s build an entire empire based on matrimonial bliss (Vera Wang for Serta mattresses, anyone?), so it’s no surprise that she has a line of wedding invites and more with stationery brand William Arthur. But look beyond the embossed ecru for cards you can use everyday. We like the invites for summer parties, personalized stationery for everyday correspondence (some options even come letter pressed) and more. But what really sets her line apart? Send in a digital photo from your wedding and they’ll print them right on your cards for a truly one-of-a-kind thank you for that toaster oven you’re going to return.
