Theory and Uniqlo Team Up for T-Down

It’s not often that a fashion collaboration is based on function as opposed to fashion. So by combining both, the debut of T-Down, Theory and Uniqlo’s winter collab, has given shoppers a reason to get cozy this season. The limited-edition collection takes the best of Theory (clean, sleek design) and Uniqlo (manufacturing prowess and low, accessible price points) to spawn a selection of down puffers that are anything but a puff piece for your closet. Each and every piece is meant to keep you warm and toasty without you losing any of your fashion cachet.

The T-Down collection has pieces on offer for both men and women — and even children get a few choice selections to choose from. The color palette, in usual Theory style, is decidedly minimal, with the pieces available in just somber combinations of black, navy, white and grey. But that just means that you’ll be able to integrate the simple staples into your winter wardrobe with ease.

The prices top out at $149, which is a huge step below the normal price point at Theory and just a touch higher than the usual Uniqlo offerings. With Uniqlo’s HeatTech long johns already a must-have for fighting the winter chill, they’ve integrated all the technology behind their futuristic fabrications and given the Theory team a heavy dose of practicality to play with. Vests and jackets have removable hoods and pockets have both snap closures and zippers so you can slip your hands into them to keep warm without interfering with whatever cargo you happen to be carrying in them.

Guys and girls will appreciate the slimmer cuts, another Theory hallmark, since puffers from more outdoorsy brands such as North Face and Columbia are often bigger on volume and lower on style. Kids’ pieces include adorable onesie puffers for infants as well as a long coat for girls and vest options for little boys. If you plan on heading to any of the snow-heavy worldly destinations that the pieces are named for (Tahoe, Gstaad, Banff, Courchevel and more), reaching for one of these pieces won’t just keep you warm, they’ll do it in high style. And if you’re just planning on braving the chill at home, they’ll do the job there, too.
