If the Justin Beiber collection for Nicole by OPI topped your list of eerie collaborations, there’s plenty more unlikely pairings where that came from, be it the head-scratching variety or those coveted colors sure to be on wait lists everywhere. In salons now and soon to sprout in spring 2011 and beyond, here is Fashion Trends Daily’s unvarnished look at some of the most notable:
Morticia Addams for Essie
Mysterious and spooky, this collab might sound altogether kooky. But we do love us some Essie. Inspired by the recent Broadway show starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth, which is based on the uber-popular cult black-and-white TV classic, Essie has released Morticia’s Nails. The line features a trio of polishes in deep red, dark blue and white that would thrill the deathly stylish Morticia herself. Proceeds go to the Actor’s Fund.
Serena Williams Glam Slam Collection for OPI
Having just earned her nail-tech license, tennis mega star (and self-proclaimed glamour girl) Serena Williams is pairing with OPI to release a duo of polishes coinciding with each of her upcoming tournaments. The first pair, set to drop in January, features Simply Smashing, a vibrant gold and Black Shatter, a crackle top coat. Coming soon, polish duos for the French Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon. Well played, Serena.
L’Wren and Lancome
The fashion realm is gaga for polish – just think how many Chanel polishes sell out before they hit counters. So it’s only natural
that designers are mixing up their own concoctions. For Fall-Winter, L’Wren Scott teamed up with Lancome for a pair of shades: Le Rouge L’Wren is a ruby-sparkling red and Le Gris L’Wren is a hard-to-describe sparkling iridescent gray that’s become this season’s it-shade.
Katy Perry for OPI
Recently married pop songstress Katy Perry has nailed her man and an upcoming polish collection. The Candyland mind is no stranger to nail art. Witness her recent Russel Brand manicure and her Twitter-happy manicures, which have featured everything from lace to airbrush designs. Her sparkle and foiled collection for OPI debuts in January with shades like Teenage Dream and Not Like the Movies.
Deborah Lippmann Collection
With names like Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Believe and No More Drama, you can be sure that manicurist-to-the-stars Deborah Lippmann isn’t just pulling her shade names from the Top 40 list. Created with her celebrity clientele, her polishes are sold out every time one graces the cover of a magazine (and that’s pretty often). Sarah Jessica, Mariah and Renee all have shades, choose any one and you’ll see stars every time you glance at your mani. Check out the new-for-holidays, GaGa Blackened Fuschia.
