After two decades of dressing models, actresses and even heads of state, Badgley Mischka have finally introduced a standalone retail concept in New York City. The designing duo have had a store off of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills since 2011, but New Yorkers have had to trek through department stores and specialty boutiques to find Badgley Mischka’s entire line of goods before the pair opened their New York flagship today.

“We looked for years to find the right location,” said James Mischka to WWD. “We would see these storefronts on Madison that are just like a box and not interesting to us.”

Prior to becoming the boutique, the townhouse played host to a Pucci boutique. The building is still owned by the Pucci family, and part of the appeal to the designers was the building’s rich history. Instead of gutting the space and starting anew (a la Hedi Slimane), the designers decided to work with the existing architecture of the townhouse and integrate each room into the design of the store. Crystal chandeliers, original marble floors and more make the luxe store feel more like a luxe dwelling — perhaps for a the screen siren that the brand often draws upon for inspiration.

“This is interesting because it has a lot of nooks and crannies. You can make each room feel special,” said Mischka.

Inside, shoppers can browse the entire breadth of the Badgley Mischka brand in the 3,500 square foot store. The nooks and crannies on each floor contain the designer’s ready-to-wear labels, handbags, accessories and costume jewelry. Upstairs, you’ll find the Badgley Mischka bridal salon and a selection of fine jewelry. Sprinkled throughout the store are sunglasses, shoes and more. Bringing the entire brand into one space to showcase the Badgley Mischka vision has always been a dream for the designers, and now with the store open, they can add another they can add one more achievement to their long list of accolades.

The Badgley Mischka boutique is now open at 24 East 64th Street, in New York.
