Make a Splash With a Scuba Skirt

We saw it on the runways at Tommy Hilfiger’s L.A. surf inspired collection, there were touches neoprene of it at Calvin Klein last year and right now, Cynthia Rowley is integrating rashguards and more into her collections. We’re experiencing a full-on tidal wave of scuba fashion. No, we’re not talking wetsuits, designers are taking scuba fabric and making everyday clothes out of it. Case in point: the scuba skirt, a great, fun way to play with the trend and add a statement-making piece to your spring wardrobe. Scuba material is great because it’s lightweight, holds its shape and can be dyed just about every color of the rainbow. And as a bonus, if you have a little spill, water, wine and cocktails will slip right off — it’s designed for diving, after all.

We’ve chosen a few of our budget-friendly favorites from Brit standby ASOS. Go glam with a demure knee or midi-length (so chic) or be a little more daring in the mini or longer ruffled shapes. Yes, scuba is 100% synthetic, which is how it holds its shape so well and manages to stay magically wrinkle-free, so don’t expect to get any bonus points from your eco-obsessed friends, but pair these colorful skirts with a simple tank and your favorite sandals and you just might make them green with envy.
