BaubleBar is the Latest E-Tailer to Add Brick-and-Mortar Outpost

During NY Fashion Week, online retailer Piperlime made news for opening its first brick-and-mortar location. Now, online accessories shop BaubleBar has followed suit. We’ve been fans of BaubleBar for both the on-trend jewelry selection as well as the online-only, no-middleman approach.  But the shopping site just got much shinier with the addition of the Bar, a real-life location in New York where you can try on the best of BaubleBar away from your trusty computer.

With an appointment, you can sample the season’s best baubles, including the site’s always-hot collaborations. Grab your gang for a group visit, which the Bar has dubbed “Bottle Service,” or head to there solo for a “By the Glass” appointment where the staff will show you the latest additions to the site and style you for your day-to-day life or your next big event.

While we love the convenience armchair accessibility of online shopping, we sometimes simply need to feel, touch and play with our purchases. And when it comes to jewelry, that’s a huge part of the experience. More than once we have stacked on necklaces and bangles at Nordstrom to near-comical levels, eschewing Chanel’s leave-one-accessory behind rule, only to be grateful that we could test out the trend before we took the plunge. The Bar does that. And it offers a place to style the site’s offerings without guessing how big or small something is and lets you really feel the weight of each piece.

BaubleBar says that its wares come from the same factories that produce costume jewelry for big names such as Roberto Cavalli and more, so it really takes an in-person viewing to appreciate the details.

BaubleBar is known for stocking its online space with statement-making necklaces and colorful bracelets. They’re in the Bar, too, but unlike the online store, the Bar is stocked with favorites from the Vault (those would be customer favorites and discontinued items) and hard-to-find collaborations from the brand’s projects with fashion heavy hitters. Right now, they’ve got collections from blogger Atlantic-Pacific and Project Runway judge and Marie Claire fashion director Nina Garcia.

All you need to do to get a seat at the Bar is make an appointment online (yes, even though this is for the actual store) for you and a group of friends, which the site playfully calls “Bottle Service.” During your visit, you’ll get an expert stylist to pull pieces for you. The products in store have been carefully curated to reflect the customers tastes’ from the surrounding area, which means you’ll be getting faves from BaubleBar’s New York clientele. You’ll also be able to find exclusive items that aren’t available to the members of BaubleBar, so it might be a good idea to plan your appointments with the changing seasons.

Don’t feel like inviting your friends? (Hey, sometimes they snag the good pieces while you’re admiring your finds!) Book a “By the Glass” appointment and you’ll get the Bar to yourself. We can’t think of a better lunchtime pick-me-up than coming back to the office with a few new bracelets on your wrist or an of-the-moment collar necklace.
