Disney’s latest film, Oz the Great and Powerful, hasn’t hit theaters yet (mark your iCal for March 8), but with a movie this anticipated, fans are already chomping at the bit for anything and everything Oz. With lush imagery already leaking out all over the internet and a cast of Hollywood power players — James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis — the film is poised to bring a whole new generation to the wonderful land of Oz. But before you go out to get your tickets, grab a few of our favorite Oz-inspired fashion picks to look the part when you go skipping off to see the Wizard.
While Oz the Great and Powerful is focused on the land of Oz pre-Dorothy, we couldn’t talk about the classic Baum tale without mentioning the book’s original heroine. Judy Garland’s signature braids and ringlets and blue gingham frock brought Dorothy to life and are so iconic that pieces from the look are on display at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. The Kate Spade New York Addison Dress ($448) takes Dorothy’s trademark gingham and updates it with a more wearable navy hue, as well as a ultra-flattering Midcentury silhouette. The dress is a nod to Oz without going directly into costume territory, which means you’ll be wearing it long after the the credits roll.

You can’t talk Oz fashion without the original film’s most famous accessory. Dorothy’s ruby pumps were the key to her return to Kansas, making her the original shoe connoisseur long before Carrie Bradshaw slipped into her Manolos.
Move the red pumps out of Oz and straight into your wardrobe with the Michael Michael Kors York Sequin Pump ($150). Click the gilt heels together — nobody said you can’t add a major dose of glam to an iconic look — and prepare to take a piece of the yellow brick road with you no matter where you strut.

Beauty junkies have a pair of limited edition collections to hunt for with the release of the film. OPI, never a brand to shy away from a film collab (Skyfall, Burlesque, Alice in Wonderland, The Muppets, Legally Blonde 2, etc.), is releasing a seven-polish collection of glitters and neutrals that beg to be layered. From blinged-out gold and silver glitter polishes to more subtle sparkles, top off any of your favorite shades with one of these colors and you’ll get a totally new look. Also in the collection is “What Wizardry is This?”, a new golden bronze color in the brand’s latest Liquid Sand texture. The Liquid Sand formulation, which blends matte texture with subtle glints of glitter, debuted with the line’s collection with Mariah Carey in 2012.
Urban Decay has released two limited edition palettes for the film inspired by Theodora, Mila Kunis’ character, and Glinda, played by Michelle Williams. Both palettes feature six shadows — two of which are split-pan offerings — and include a mini liner and a lip color. Fans of subtle neutrals will love the Theodora palette, which is a mix of warm browns while more adventurous beauty buffs will go crazy for the Glinda set, a more sparkling collection of pinks, golds and purples. Why not get both? After all, every girl needs choices.

Another iconic character that traveled right alongside Dorothy was little Toto, who hopped right out of his wicker basket and into the hearts of moviegoers everywhere. For a more practical (and much more modern) update, throw everything — dog included — into the Lanvin 22 Faubourg Raffia Shopper ($790). The perfect blend of playful and practical, the bag is full of organizational pockets inside and boasts comfortable soft leather handles. The grosgrain ribbon is signature Elbaz, and knowing how his creations stir hoards of ladies into a frenzy, you’ll have to fend them off, along with an army of flying monkeys, to snag this treasure.
