Outfit Inspiration: Rita Ora’s Irreverent Print Dress

Rita Ora in Moschino

Rita Ora in Moschino

With Jeremy Scott at the helm of Moschino, the brand’s got star power, style and shock to spare. The latest collection featured Moschino’s signature irreverent take on fashion combined with Jeremy Scott’s own love of pop culture (he did, after all, create shoes with teddy bears in lieu of traditional tongues). The result was a collection that featured McDonalds prints, Spongebob Squarepants coats and more. One of the first lucky ladies to wear a piece from the collection was, naturally, Brit It-girl Rita Ora. She was spotted in Scott’s Cheez-it print frock, which combined a bright, shocking print with a more wearable solid panel.

We loved the look so much — but we’re not sure we’d be willing to walk the streets as a billboard for irresponsible snacking. Ora, who is no stranger to fashion, being the face of a DKNY campaign, is known for being brash when it comes to fashion, and combination of classic Veronica Lake waves and a her own signature red lip hit all the right notes. We’ve found a few pieces to help you recreate her fun, fresh look without waiting for Scott’s collection to hit stores.

ASOS Asymmetric Zip Print Body-Conscious Dress

A more traditional print (and let’s face it, something easier to find than a snack-inspired pattern) would be floral, but with so many different kinds, shapes and colors available, it’s easy to look like everyone else when you opt for a bloom-heavy botanical print. The ASOS Asymmetric Zip Print Body-Conscious Dress ($75.28) is a mashup of tradition and trend, bringing together a large-scale floral print with a solid and slicing it with an asymmetrical slash. This dress is fantastic for girls who don’t want to get swallowed up in a statement print and it’s got great details that will set it apart, such as zippers and super sleek solid back. So skip the slew of sweet flowered dresses you’ll find from the usual suspects and add a little edge.

Available at ASOS.

1. Sure a nude or black pump would be a great option when your dress is the center of attention, but you don’t have to go the safe route. Instead of something basic, zip up the MICHAEL Michael Kors Graham Cage Heel ($225). It’s neutral enough to let your print dress take center stage, but it’s also far from boring.

2. Rita is known for adding a personal touch to everything she’s wearing, including a Cheez-It printed frock. To make sure that you’re always wearing your outfit and not the other way around, add a monogram necklace in an unexpected tortoise. Moon and Lola can whip one up for you in no time for just $88.

3. Another accessory that Rita’s never without? A bold lip. NARS’ new Matte Multiples ($39) are an easy way to coordinate cheeks and lips — they work great for both — with just one sleek product.
