Rebecca Minkoff has transformed her label from a bag-only brand to an extensive lifestyle line that cool, downtown girls can’t get enough of. Not only has she worked her magic in the retail world, but she’s also leading the pack in the digital realm, too. Her Instagram campaign made the debut of her shoe line one of the most anticipated launches of her career. And her presence online — along with her legion of loyal Minkettes, as they are known — is one of the strongest in the fashion world. And did we mention that her Ben Minkoff line of mens’ accessories has also been a hit, and includes a diaper bag any dad would be proud to carry.

What’s next? Jewelry: the icing on the cake, of course.  Minkoff is adding jewelry to her eponymous line, giving those Minkettes something to salivate over once again.

“I actually got my start in designing apparel,” Minkoff said. “So that was an easy transition, and as I’ve gotten older, jewelry has become a more important part of my wardrobe.”

The first collection, which will launch this month on Minkoff’s Web site, select Bloomingdale’s stores and specialty retailers nationwide, includes 52 different styles. In classic Minkoff style, the shapes are bold and chunky, like the hardware on Minkoff’s cult-favorite bags and reflect the label’s “desk-to-dinner” ethos, which means nothing is too precious to save just for special occasions. The pieces get a femme twist with glittering crystals and delicate pieces get a touch of whimsy with the addition of brightly colored enameling.

“It’s really been an organic evolution,” said Minkoff. “It just made perfect sense to add a jewelry category to the brand.”

The collection includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings. A special selection also offers necklaces and rings with zodiac nameplates, too. Pieces are available in 18-karat yellow gold, rose gold and silver-tone plated stainless steel and select items include Swarovski crystals. Shapes echo Minkoff’s love of Art Deco, but more edgy pieces feature chunky chains, horn and heart motifs as well as more geometric designs tempered by more feminine, delicate shapes.

“I love wearing an armful of bracelets,” said Minkoff. “The more the merrier! I would say my favorite pieces are the bracelets. They are simple enough to wear with other pieces and a statement enough that they can stand on their own.”

Like the Morning After Bag, the M.A.C. and her now-essential leather jacket (blogger Leandra Medine, the Man Repeller, famously wore one over her Marchesa wedding gown), these pieces are destined to become staples in every Minkette’s accessories rotation — whether they’re coming back after a night on the town or prepping for it.
