TheOutnet.com is a not-so-well kept secret among girls who love things like It-bags and designer shoes but don’t want to pay full price for them (especially when full price hovers in the quad-digit range). But the team at the TheOutnet wasn’t satisfied with just providing rabid fashion fans with discounts on Chloé, Lanvin and more, so they decided to launch their own in-house label, Iris & Ink. The brand started by launching apparel and soon its in-house brand became one of the most popular brands on the site. This is no small feat, considering that the pieces “hang” right alongside Phillip Lim, Marc Jacobs and the like. Naturally, Iris & Ink has now expanded to include a range of covetable bags.

“Iris & Ink is one of the most popular brands on TheOutnet.com, and its customers are always looking for longevity in pieces that they buy, and, opposed to shoes or sunglasses, a practical, well-designed bag can last you for years,” said Shira Suveyke, the vice president of global buying for The Outnet. “Each bag was created with functionality in mind. We tested each style to see how much it would hold, if it could fit a pair of flats, a small umbrella, and a cashmere sweater.”

Years of selling bags on Net-a-Porter and the TheOutnet really show off in the Iris & Ink collection, because each and every one of the seven pieces skirt the line between chic and edgy thanks to bold color choices, mixed media and trendy but classic shapes. The debut collection features a tote, a satchel, a shoulder bag and handful of fold-over clutches. Named for popular spots in London, each bag offers details you’d normally find on a designer bag, only the whole collection of Iris & Ink bags ranges from just $65 for the clutch to $395. And while the shoulder bag (named Chelsea, $210) is the standout thanks to its croc-effect flap, we’re loving the Hoxton calf hair and leather foldover clutch ($198), which can be used as a laptop sleeve when it’s not folded. Speaking of tech, the Two-tone leather pouch ($85) is sized perfectly for an iPad mini and the Notting Hill leather tote ($220) has an exterior pocket that’s just big enough to fit a full-sized iPad. Fashion and function? Not every It-bag has both, but these certainly do.
