This Season’s It-Bag is the Backpack

Thanks to Mansur Gavriel, the bucket bag has reigned supreme as the most covetable bag of the season (and of last season), but simmering under the surface has been the resurgence of the backpack. And why not? With the ’70s in full swing, it’s about time that the backpack — an ’80s staple — had its time in the spotlight. Brands such as MCM and Michael Kors have already released logo-centric designs, but the new crop of backpacks scales back on branding and instead, places the focus on practicality and personal style. Classicists can opt for the clean lines of the Cambridge Satchel Co.’s polished option while biker babes are sure to swoon over Rag & Bone’s tough leather option. With so many options in store, there’s no reason not to swing a ‘pack over your coat and face spring with a brand new bag.
