Strung Out: The New Bucket Bag

Mansur Gavriel’s bucket bag — and its legion of knockoffs — are a street style staple by now. You’ve seen it. You’ve touched it. You may even have one. But the brand known for the bucket isn’t the end-all and be-all of the bag game. This season, designers are giving the bucket a bit of polish. You won’t find any fussy drawstrings on any of these picks. Instead, you’ll find the same relaxed shape with a bit more sophistication and a lot more convenience.

Bucket bags are beloved for their ability to hold just about everything you’d need to carry and still have plenty of space for more. These bags retain that feature and add the ability to reach in without untying a string. While those sweet bows look great in photos, they can sometimes be a pain in practice. By nixing that standby feature, these bags look fresh and new, something that everyone can appreciate when they’re scoping out a new carryall.
