The Stiletto Slim-Down: Our Top Pin-Heeled PIcks

While your wardrobe may be packing on layers (and pounds) for fall your shoes should be losing some bulk. Summer’s wedges and platforms are going on a major diet and even the standby stiletto is feeling the pressure. The latest in shoes? The almost gravity-defying pin-heel. Skinny as skinny gets, these picks will have you towering over fall’s hottest trend.

Proenza Schouler Calf Hair and Leather Sandals ($1,195)

Coming and going these shoes make a statement!  These Proenza Schouler sandals look simple from the front, but when you walk away you’ll reveal a crisscrossing pattern leading down to a drop-dead-sexy slim heel.

Christian Louboutin Big Stack 120 Leather Pumps ($755)

One advantage we see to the pin-heeled trend is that there’s less of a stiletto to obscure your Louboutin red. These shoes look impossible to walk in, but the sexy, almost fetish quality that the heel lends to a classic black pump is one way to amp up your style.

Guiseppe Zanotti Lace-Up Eel Sandals ($995)

The designer embracing the pin-heel with open arms is Guiseppe Zanotti, who seems to have a few every season. But this fall, he’s got a slew of these skinnies in stores. These lace-up sandals are part-gladiator, part-gold and all glam. There’s no telling whether you’ll be on steady footing with this trend, but this tough look will have looking like you’re in full control.

Guiseppe Zanotti Spider-Strap Brushed-Leather Sandals ($1,745)

Want something sinister with you every step you take? These Guiseppe sandals are a far cry from the lace up sandals, but the gunmetal spider is a quick way to add a touch of the badass to even your most feminine looks. A quirky but dangerous touch for sure!

YSL Opyum Suede Pointed Pumps ($665)

For those who can’t brave 120 millimeters or 5 inches, the YSL 4-and-a-half-incher might be the perfect pair of training heels to get you ready for the real deal. Though they’re definitely not for the faint of heart, we think these might be the sturdiest of the bunch (again, think pin-in-training) – and the rich turquoise color is calling our name.

Alexander McQueen Resin Leaf Silk-Satin Peep-Toe Pumps ($1,675)

Literally topping our list is this 6-inch stunner. The pin-heel is molded from a white-and-gold resin leaf, giving something so delicate major grounding. Though it’s marketed as a bridal choice, we’re not convinced that this is just for walks down the aisle. After all, that rule about white after Labor Day? These shoes are one reason rules are meant to be broken.
