The Summer’s Hottest Fashion Exhibits From Around The Globe

Whether you’re traveling abroad or staying on your own shores this summer, there are plenty of exhibitions that slant towards the sartorial. So if your idea of culture means a big dose of couture, then you’re in luck. From Morocco to Manhattan, there’s a hefty dose of chic happening at some of the world’s best museums. Read on for our must-see selection:

Yves Saint Laurent Morocco exhibit

Yves Saint Laurent et le MarocIf you saw the huge touring YSL exhibit last year (it had stops in San Francisco and Paris’ Petit Palais, where Fashion Trends Daily saw it last summer), there's even more Yves to love in Casablanca. For the first time ever, Saint Laurent’s beloved Morocco is playing host to an exhibit of his desert-tinged pieces. Curated by Pierre Berge, the exhibit will be open through July 17.For more information, visit the YSL Foundation website.Balenciaga and Spain

For an exhibit closer to home, (which is co-curated by Vogue’s dapper Hamish Bowles) to the City by the Bay. The selection of pieces, borrowed from stateside collections as well as Spain and France, show looks inspired by royal dress, traditional Spanish dance and bullfighting, among other topics. The exhibit runs through July 4.

Beauty Culture exhibit at the Annenberg

Beauty CultureAnd right in our own Southern California backyard, the Annenberg Space for Photography in L.A. is giving beauty its own closeup. Bringing together traditional views of beauty (think supermodels old and new) and more controversial ones (Toddlers and Tiaras, anyone?) as well as some out-there outlooks like the possibility of perfection via robots, the exhibit will definitely give you pause next time you see a cosmetics advert or look in the mirror. Through November 27.For more information, visit the Annenberg Space for Photography website.Kate Moss par les plus Grands Photographes and Kate Moss Portfolio and Other StoriesDouble your pleasure at either of these exhibits, which both feature the lithe and languid Kate Moss. The duo of dueling exhibits (La Galerie l’Instant in Paris and the Danginger Project in New York) highlight the work that Moss has done in the fashion industry, with images you’ll instantly recognize alongside lesser-known photos. Whichever side of the Atlantic you’ll be on, you’re sure to get an up-close-and-personal dose of the fashion icon.Danzinger Projects Through June 30th, and La Galerie l’Instant Through September 14thFor more information, visit the Danzinger Projects and La Galerie l’Instant websites.Alexander McQueen: Savage BeautyAnd perhaps the biggest exhibition of them all is the McQueen retrospective at the Met. Now that it’s been extended through August 7, you really have no excuse to see everything from the famed Kate

Moss hologram (as if you needed just one more chance to see her) to the details of the unforgettable Plato’s Atlantis collection and the spectacular headpieces that McQueen used in his runway productions. Savage Beauty is a beautiful collection of the late designer’s works that you really have to see to believe.
