Sarah Jessica Parker to Launch SJP Shoe Line at Nordstrom

During her tenure as the reigning fashionista on television, Sarah Jessica Parker had her choice of Manolos, Louboutins and Jimmy Choos to choose from. Carrie Bradshaw had every woman’s dream shoe wardrobe, no matter how unrealistic it seemed to be chasing after a dog in stilettos, and now, Sarah Jessica Parker herself is giving girls everywhere a chance to get a piece of that magic. Her latest endeavor is SJP, her eponymous line of shoes and accessories. Launching at Nordstrom beginning February 28th, it’s sure to cause a fashion frenzy for die hard Sex and the City fans and shoe-loving shoppers across the country.

“At long last I am able to share the news of my coming shoe collection and my partnership with Nordstrom in a more official way,” Sarah Jessica Parker said. “When I initially met with George Malkemus to discuss the idea of a shoe line, one of the first things I said to him was that Nordstrom was my dream retailer. And so it seems some dreams do come true.”

This isn’t Parker’s first foray into the world of fashion. Previously, SJP was at the helm of Halston Heritage, but that gig, no matter how short-lived, only whet her appetite for a more solid position in the world of fashion. Her namesake label however, was done on her terms. SJP’s shoes are manufactured in Italy and like Parker’s own closet, offers classic shapes — including a style inspired by the holy grail Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane that she spied in the Vogue closet — and more statement-making offerings.

“I’m allergic to the idea that certain shoes are for certain occasions,” adds Parker. “It’s too limiting. And as Pat Field taught me, toss out any rules. I sure did.”

The shoes made their debut when Glamour magazine dedicated an entire spread to the line (Lucky and Harpers had previously given a sneak peek of just one style each), showing off a pair of flats, the aforementioned Mary Janes and a fashion-forward mashup of Timberland boot and peep-toe heel reminiscent of Beyoncé’s shoe of choice when she first went solo. There are classic pumps on offer, too, so we’re sure that everyone will find something that they’ll definitely want to add to their collections. Each shoe’s named after a leading lady, adding some Hollywood caché to the already glamorous lineup.

In addition to launching the shoes in Nordstrom stores (for a full list of locations that will carry the line, visit the SJP microsite at Nordstrom.com), Sarah Jessica Parker will be embarking on a country-wide tour that’ll have her giving face time with fans from coast to coast. The tour begins at a pop-up in New York (we still can’t believe they don’t have a Nordstrom location in the Big Apple) and includes stops at Nordstrom’s Seattle flagship and locations in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and Dallas.

“This endeavor has been a long time coming, but now that the pieces have come together as they have, with Nordstrom, George and a collection I’m so very proud of, I believe it was worth the wait,” says Parker. “I’m incredibly nervous about the launch but so thrilled to finally reveal more details of the collection in the coming weeks. And I’m so looking forward to meeting and actually seeing the shoes on Nordstrom customers as I travel to stores across the country. That will be, I think, the most thrilling moment of all.”

In addition to shoes, the SJP line will include accessories, though Parker’s remained tight-lipped on just what the scope of SJP will include. A few of Carrie Bradshaw’s outfits revolved entirely around a specific shoe, so we can only imagine what Parker’s got planned now that she’s built a solid foundation with footwear. An entire lifestyle brand? We wouldn’t dismiss the idea — in fact, we’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
