The Short Order: Our Favorite Booties Under $100

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Ah, the model off duty look. It’s something that many girls strive for when they’re off duty themselves. It’s marked by a few standout must-haves: It-bag, artfully distressed denim, cool sunglasses and a nonchalant attitude that exudes a devil-may-care attitude combined with a devil-is-in-the-details approach to accessorizing. While leggy models are most likely wearing head-to-toe designer (gifted from their pals Karl, Ricardo, Donatella, etc.) the one thing that we love about the look is that it’s easy to replicate no matter what your clothing budget is.

One piece you’ll need to grab ASAP is the bootie, because models of all sorts (and mere mortals, we might add) are opting for it this season. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (pictured right) as well as her gal pals Alessandra Ambroisio, Miranda Kerr and Chanel Iman have all been spotted wearing the most coveted footwear of the season, but we’ve gathered together our favorite styles, whether you’re the kind of girl who wears heels even when she’s off the clock or the kind to add a little rock ‘n roll to your look — all for under $100.

Michael Antonio Manley

Clean and Simple

If your fashion inspiration pulls more from Roony Mara than Rihanna, Michael Antonio Manley boot ($49) is exactly what you need to pair with your slim black jeans. The mixed media combo of faux suede and smooth vegan leather touch on one trend while the sleek single-buckle detail and simple shape are a nod to the minimalism that’s been seen on the runways. It’s a great boot for girls who don’t want to spend all day in a heel, too, with  its 3/4-inch heel, it’s comfortable, clean and can pair with anything in your closet.

Pink and Pepper Duster

Classic Cool

A perennial favorite among street style bloggers, fashion editors and models themselves is the Rag & Bone Newbury Boot, but with a price tag that hovers near $500, it’s not a budget-friendly buy for those of us not feeling spendy. We found the Pink and Pepper Duster ($59), which has a similar look and feel to the Newbury, but has a few details it can definitely call its own. Fans of stacked, chunky heels will find the Duster checks all the marks. It’s also got a great piping detail and a clean side-zipper (one of the complaints about the Newbury is its oft-temperamental zipper). You might just find this budget buy breaks in a little easier thanks to its vegan leather construction.

Steve Madden Milaan

Boho Bootie

If your closet is filled with maxi dresses and florals instead of leather leggings and all black everything, you might find the Steve Madden Milaan ($99) more your style than the last two choices. Soft suede (no vegan stuff here) lends itself to more casual looks, but don’t discount this entirely if you’re looking for something office-appropriate. Channel Zooey and Alexa by pairing it with this fall’s florals or anything with a busy pattern you need to simplify. Its simple shape and wear-with-everything color make this a go-to for work and play alike.

Report Fairfield

Buckle In

Remember when we mentioned Rihanna earlier? This is one bootie we could definitely see the chanteuse wear when she’s taking it easy. The Report Fairfield ($99) blends together everything we love about Rihanna’s personal style. It’s luxe thanks to its combo of real leather and suede and it’s got plenty of bling to reflect the paparazzi’s flashbulbs. Add one unexpected touch, in this case it’s the bootie’s extra-chunky heel, and you’ve got something that’ll catch second glances no matter where you wear it.

Nine West Speida

Cut to Order

Not all booties lean casual. If you’ve got a super feminine dress on or you’re looking to step out after dark and make a statement, the Nine West Speida ($99) combines all the characteristics of this season’s bootie trend with a few extras thrown in for good measure. Crisscross straps, chain mail detailing and a peep toe in addition to cutouts and a skyscraper heel might sound like a design overload, but instead, this bootie is sexy and fashion-forward. It might be the Speida’s stealthy all-black colorway or it’s clean lines, but it’s something we could picture just about any young Hollywood actress wearing on and off the red carpet.
