Toms New Ballet Flats Give Comfort a Makeover

Toms Ballet Flats Shoe Trend 2012

Toms Launches Ballet Flats for Spring 2012

We love Toms shoes for their One for One manifesto of ensuring that with each purchase of the company’s shoes, a new pair of Toms is gifted to a child in need. And we’ve really, really wanted to wear them to show our support, but it just hasn’t quite fit into our style aesthetic. But now the brand, which recently debuted an eyewear line, is launching its new line of casual chic ballet flats soon on the Toms website and retailers nationwide, and we are poised and ready to pas de deux with them.

We’ve always loved the classic versatility of a ballet flat: Audrey can dance in them, editors keep them tucked in their Céline luggage totes for last-minute Louboutin swap-outs, and they are the perfect way to mix comfort and chic. In true Toms style, the flats will be available in multiple silhouettes and materials. Of course, their classic canvas is a choice, but we’re leaning toward leather and suede choices. If you’re more adventurous, the styles are also available in leopard prints, pastel linens and even burlap. They even come in contrast cap-toes if you’re in the mood to pay your eco-conscious homage to Madame Coco herself. And with pricing starting at $74 and topping out at $129, they’re certainly not going to make a dent in the Birkin fund.

While Toms flats don’t flash any discernable logo, they’re recognizable enough to let onlookers know that you helped the One for One cause, which we think is a nice antidote to the logo-emblazoned options we’ve seen around for a few years now. Toms has already helped with “shoe drops” in South America, Africa and more and their new eyewear programs have already given countless vision exams to individuals in Nepal. Helping out and doing it in comfort and style? That’s something we can get behind.
