Like her contemporary counterparts Rebecca Minkoff and Tommy Hilfiger, Rachel Zoe skipped out on New York Fashion Week and Winter Storm Niko. Instead, she showed on her home turf: Los Angeles. It makes sense: most people know Zoe for her work as a stylist, especially the red carpet dresses that she’s put on her celebrity clientele, which has included Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, Molly Sims, Jennifer Garner, and Cameron Diaz. And like her cohorts, Zoe decided to give her fans a selection of pieces they could purchase straight from the runway. If the fashion industrial complex isn’t listening yet, it seems like see now, buy now is becoming the norm, not a novelty.
“Showing here feels like home,” Rachel Zoe told Vogue of the new collection. “I think I was just born to love glamour and glamorous women and dressing up — jewelry, lamé, sequins, and beading.”

While past Zoe collections have showed separates, fall’s outing showed that the stylist-cum-designer is fully embracing what she knows best: after-dark dressing and red carpet va-va-voom. Just about every piece was done up in sequins and those that weren’t got a major dose of embroidery and jewels. It’s not that shoppers won’t get a few day options, it’s just that these are the dresses that make for a show — especially when the flashbulbs are going off.
Jumpsuits, a Zoe staple, were shown with wide legs and got a chic tuxedo twist. Trendier items like slipdresses and midis were glammed up with metallic sequins, animal print, and loose ruffles that added a relaxed take on Old Hollywood. Everything seemed exaggerated: lapels, shine, and glamour. Many of the pieces were available for purchase. Zoe assures us that her customer always guides her in design, so if shoppers are asking for evening looks and their own red carpet moments, their wishes were granted.
