If there’s one word that sums up Rachel Zoe, it’s boho. We know it, fans of her line know it, and just about everyone who knows who Zoe is can picture the designer — and her roster of celeb clients — in flared jeans, razor-sharp blazers and pussy-bow blouses. But her contemporary label, which sits alongside SoCal labels like 3.1 Phillip Lim and Elizabeth & James, seemed to be moving away from the Coachella-ready looks and flouncy ruffles that are signature boho touchstones.

Previous seasons saw a focus on daywear and tailoring. But for spring 2017, Zoe is shifting her focus back to bohemia with a collection inspired by jet-setter and fashion icon Talitha Getty.

Pretty patterns and prints looked to be culled from Getty’s Marrakech home (which was known colloquially as the Pleasure Palace) and featured heavily on of-the-moment silhouettes like maxi-dresses and off-the-shoulder options. Last season’s focus on separates gave way to more occasion dresses, though for Zoe and her ilk, every day is an occasion for a floor-sweeping maxi.

Caftan dressing was also a focus, with statement-making maxi silhouettes as well as what Zoe calls a mini-caftan, a more wearable abbreviated take on the seaside staple that looks great on its own and paired with wide-leg pants. The few separates that Zoe did show, which included batik flare jeans and a few tailored pieces, were spot on. They’ll have fans dressed for more formal occasions, but fans of Zoe’s boho staples will want to clear out space in their closets, stat.
