Beloved L.A. Brand Reformation Adds Bridal Collection

Cool girls know to head to Reformation’s L.A. boutique for clothes that run a little left of what you’ll find at a boutique such as Fred Segal or Planet Blue. Instead, designer Yael Aflalo has created a line with a devoted following by sticking to her guns: the clothes are all manufactured locally in L.A. and the whole line incorporates eco-friendly materials and green practices from start to finish. And the best part? There’s not one bit of hippy-dippy granola in any of the pieces. Aflalo is expanding her label now to include a range of boho elegant bridal pieces, including both bride’s and bridesmaid’s dresses, that stick to her eco-fashion roots.

The brand, which is already a street style favorite, grew from Aflalo’s first line, Ya-ya, which could be found at Ron Herman and other boutiques across the country. When she saw the start-to-finish process of apparel manufacturing, she sought to find a more environmentally friendly way to create, which spurred Reformation. The brand started in L.A. and has expanded to include a pair of New York locations, but there’s no middleman or wholesale, you’ll only find the pieces at Reformation stores (and online, of course), which allows Aflalo to oversee everything from inception to execution. With monthly deliveries, the brand is not only disrupting the fashion manufacturing process, but also the fashion calendar itself.

The addition of Reformation’s Wedding Collection fits a niche that’s slowly growing. Not every girl wants a frothy, fairy tale gown, a sweetheart neckline or a full tulle skirt. Instead, Reformation channels a little bit of ’90s alternative culture, pulling from music festivals and the sort of off-kilter looks embodied by the likes of Courtney Love and Stevie Nicks. There’s not one bit of over-the-top embellishment, not one strapless princess gown or anything too sweet, but the collection’s perfect for brides looking for something a big different. The seven-piece collection includes ivory, silk wedding dresses that range from $518-588 and both printed and solid bridesmaid dresses that range from $198-368. Of course, the entire collection remains in line with Reformation’s eco-friendly, green initiatives.
