It looks Southern California left an impression made an impression on Louis Vuitton after its monthlong pop-up museum. After wrapping up the portable exhibition, the brand is coming back: Nicolas Ghesquiere is bringing the brand’s resort show to Palm Springs this year, keeping the tradition of far-flung destination resort shows alive.

Last year, Vuitton showed its resort collection in Monaco — très French — but in keeping with the brand’s heritage as a luggage maker, it makes sense to bring the innovation and tradition on the road. Palm Springs, which will play host to Coachella just a few weeks after the May 6 Vuitton show, has been a magnet for Hollywood’s brightest, interior designers and ladies who love the clime and spirit of the desert (ahem, Stevie). No word yet on just where the sure-to-be-spectacular show will be, but if its anything like previous outings for the brand, it’s sure to be a showstopper.

Vuitton joins the ranks of Tom Ford, Raf Simons and Hedi Slimane, who both embraced L.A. this year. Instead of showing in his usual London time slot, Ford showed his latest ready-to-wear collection just a few days before the Academy Awards. Simons is bringing the Christian Dior show to Los Angeles as well on May 9, so the celebs, editors and fashion personalities are sure to fill up the Southland with their signature style while they soak up the sun between shows. Why are designers suddenly flocking to the Golden State? We’d place our bets on the celeb factor — Ford’s front row was almost entirely celebrities — but the sunshine probably doesn’t hurt either.
