Nordstrom’s New Century City Store Boasts A Bevy Of L.A. Exclusives

Nordstrom’s recent move from the old-school shopping mall digs of Westside Pavilion to the freshly reimagined, Instagram-worthy Westfield Century City offered the storied department store a chance to reimagine the shopping experience for style-savvy Angelenos with a sharp focus on exclusive new shopping experiences and additions.

Beauty lovers will appreciate the new MAC Makeup Studio, a West Coast exclusive for the chain. Inside, shoppers can get makeovers from licensed pros and check out the latest limited-edition releases from the beloved brand. And while other MAC locations offer similar services, at the Makeup Studio it’s a true one-on-on experience where artists won’t be interrupted by errant shoppers. A few steps away, the Nordstrom Century City will also offer an exclusive for YSL Beauté shoppers: lipstick engraving. Complimentary with any purchase, the service will allow lipsticks to get personalization via names, phrases, or characters.

As for apparel and accessories, the Century City location also has Nordstrom’s very first Nordstrom x Nike boutique in the L.A. area. Curated by Olivia Kim, the pro behind Nordstrom’s special projects and pop-ins, the space will display exclusives, limited-edition releases, and a huge selection from Nike encompassing apparel and tech as well as shoes. Kim also spearheaded SPACE, a department for emerging designers, and Century City will have just the second location in the L.A. area. Simone Rocha, JW Anderson, Noir Kei Ninomiya, Junya Watanabe, Comme des Garcons, and Tom Wood are all available.

While Nordstrom has long enjoyed a reputation for stellar customer service and been known for carrying a wide range of brands, the new spot is hoping to up the ante with greater size inclusion in its brands. To cater to that, the Century City location will have the Style Bar. Staffed with 10 personal stylists, customers can consult with the team to prep for an occasion or even get suggestions for a complete closet makeover.

“In this case, this is a massive investment that Westfield’s done with Century City and it was already a really compelling center,” Nordstrom copresident Erik Nordstrom told WWD. “We just really got excited about their commitment and what they’re doing to elevate what was already a great center and a great location.”
