Oakland’s Book/Shop Expands to NY’s Noho

Book/Shop inside C’H’C’M

Oakland’s Book/Shop has long been a destination for the book-obsessed. Yes, there are folk out there that still read real books in lieu of flipping virtual Kindle pages, and Book/Shop is here to celebrate reading and all of the things attached to the quiet luxury involved with sitting down and reading. Since its opening, the Oakland store has had one of the most amazing collections of vintage books and more, such as book bags, book marks and more. Now, it’s bringing that same curated, cozy feel to New York with the opening of a permanent shop inside the city’s C.H.C.M. location.

The Noho Book/Shop location carries the same rare and vintage books in a clean space that’s filled with handmade shelving. In addition to rare books, the store is stocked with book-related posters and art prints. Book/Shop’s owner Erik Heywood has a history in interior design, and if that didn’t show in the homey space in Oakland, it shines in New York. The space might look sparse, but it makes the most of the tiny square footage and packs in plenty of books and accessories. The collection will rotate, so make sure to stop in every time you find yourself in New York. And if you can’t head to Oakland or the Big Apple, get in on the action with Heywood’s reading lists, all posted on the store’s blog.

Book/Shop is now open at 2 Bond St., New York. For more information, visit www.book—shop.com.
