Equipment Launches Homme Collection for Co-ed French Cool

During the last New York Fashion Week the FTD team spied Equipment blouses all over — from our team members to the tents at Lincoln Center and beyond. Street style favorites and editors alike were all wearing the brand’s signature silk chemises, paired with everything from pencil skirts to cigarette pants. Trés chic, oui? We thought so, too. But what many of the brand’s fans didn’t know was that in 1975, when the brand was just getting its legs in the fashion world, the line was meant to be a unisex label. Now under the creative direction of Serge Azria, Equipment is re-launching their Homme line with a collection of cozy knits that girls will undoubtedly be snagging from their boyfriends.

Made of 100% cashmere, Equipment Homme sweaters borrow from the simple chic that the line’s girly goods are known for. Simple shapes, luxe fabrics and effortless French styling are all hallmarks of both Equipment and Equipment Homme. Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger were among the brand’s fans in the ’80s, but with the release of knitwear (male-specific shirts aren’t on offer just yet) we’re sure that the brand will find a whole new generation of fans. The first collection for Equipment Homme features cardigans and crew necks in deep, saturated solids, nautical Breton stripes and raglan baseball-style contrast sleeves for the perfect blend of French dressing and American style.
